For a thousand years the word druid was forbidden and the word filidh heard increasingly instead. Most of them were christian bards.There are honourable exceptions amongst the Irish Filidh. The earliest on record was Dallan Forgiall, an Ollamh (pronounced Ollav) or professor who was author of one of the first poems in the Irish language that we still have today.
